Surf is the face height at the beach after the swell is filtered for the way FX faces. Arrows show where the swell and wind are heading. Tide is the height at North Sunderland (Northumberland) above chart datum, rising ↑ or falling ↓; the rating drops when the tide is outside the window this break works on. Amber marks the sessions worth setting an alarm for. From Wednesday the swell comes from Météo-France's 10-day model, which is coarser than the 5 km German model used close in. Hours no model reaches are left blank, not shown as flat.
Exposure
FX faces east. Swell inside the lit window reaches the beach; anything from behind the headlands scores nothing, however big the buoy says it is.
- SE
- 0.4 m at 4 s (swell) · 36 % reaches the beach

How FX works
- Swell
- Best from the north east.
- Wind
- South West is offshore.
- Tide
- mid to high tide.
- Getting there
- Turn off A1. get to Beadnell (South of Seahouses). Find "On the Beach" restaurant. Ask for someone who surfs (inside the restaurant) and say "please point me at FX". If you stand outside the chip shop and look northeast you will be able to see FX (almost in line with the Farne Islands).
A reef break found between Beadnell and Seahouses Golf Club aprrox 1 mile out to sea (at high tide). Breaks a fast left hander, but there is a right if you paddle about five minutes further north to the other side of the rock outcrop (not recomended). Can be very tubey, has large channel to paddle out in which makes access reasonable but not easy.
